As reported in the previous edition of the KIRA Mirror, there has been some concern regarding the parking in narrow streets and in particular at the northern end of Grand Parade. KIRA put its views forward and these were responded to by Council officers.
Council confirmed that the existing road design did meet all regulatory requirements and as such its options for dealing with complaints were limited.
This is a very difficult and sometimes emotional issue for residents with a number of competing concerns. Council agreed to prepare an information paper which we have placed on the KIRA website (www.kira.net.au).
KIRA considers that this should be of help to enable residents to understand what is and is not permitted in relation for parking on the Island and may perhaps assist residents to be more mindful of where and how they park to reduce disruption and inconvenience to fellow Islanders.
